Diamond grind or shot blast the surface to remove any existing coatings, sealers, or contaminants. This step is crucial for proper adhesion.
Repair any cracks, holes, or surface imperfections in the existing concrete or substrate.
PRIMING:
Apply a high-quality epoxy primer to the prepared surface. The primer helps improve adhesion and seals the concrete, preventing air from forming in the epoxy layer.
EPOXY APPLICATION:
Mix the epoxy resin and hardener according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure to use the correct proportions to ensure a proper cure.
Pour the epoxy mixture onto the floor in sections, spreading it evenly using rollers or squeegees. Work quickly, as epoxy can cure rapidly.
Use spiked shoes to walk on the wet epoxy and roll out any air bubbles to achieve a smooth and level surface.
DECORATIVE ELEMENTS(OPTIONAL):
If you desire a decorative epoxy floor, such as a metallic or flake system, add these elements while the epoxy is still wet. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for the specific decorative system you choose.
TOPCOAT:
For added durability and chemical resistance, apply polyaspartic or ployurea topcoat. This step is especially important for high-traffic areas or environments where the floor will be exposed to harsh chemicals.
CURING TIME:
Allow the topcoat (if applied) to cure for the recommended time.
CLEANUP:
Remove any tape or protective coverings used during the installation process.
Clean the floor to remove any dust or debris that may have settled during the curing period.
